– 2025 Event FAQ –

When and where is Lone Star Zine Fest happening?

The 2025 Fest goes down on Saturday and Sunday, October 11 & 12, noon-6pm both days at Blue Genie Art Bazaar, 6100 Airport Blvd.

How much does it cost to attend Lone Star Zine Fest?

Nothing, y’all! Admission is FREE, but make sure to bring some bucks because you’re gonna want to buy a bunch of zines. Most exhibitors will be equipped to take Venmo, PayPal, CashApp, credit cards, etc, but if you wanna be on the safe side, BRING CA$H.

We’ll also have a small selection of LSZF merch new and vintage, for purchase, so swing by and grab a poster or a sticker to help us keep the Fest free!

The space will be decorated with a Y2K/early-2000s Internet theme, and exhibitors and attendees are encouraged to play along.

What is there for kids to do at the Fest?

Lots of zines for sale at the Fest will be kid-friendly and some are made by or for kids! Many of the artists also sell stickers, posters, pins, magnets, greeting cards, patches, and other fun merch. There is a lot of kid-friendly artwork on display.

As usual, we are hosting a rad Zine Creation Station where folks of all ages can make their own zines! All the supplies will be provided and volunteers will be on hand to provide guidance for creators of all ages.

We’ve grouped all the kid-friendly exhibitors toward the right front of the venue, near the Creation Station and all the exhibitors with the most explicit material toward the back. Vendors with an Adult Zone sign should be avoided by any attendees not open to seeing potentially upsetting material. Feel free to check out our exhibitors’ work ahead of time by following the links on our exhibitor list above. You can even plot your approximate course using the table map (coming soon!), but be sure to check the onsite maps when you get to the Fest in case anyone has moved around last minute.

What’s y’all’s Covid policy?

The venue is large and spacious but indoors, so we encourage and support masking and will have some masks available if you forget yours. We’ll also have air purifiers courtesy of Clear The Air ATX – thanks, y’all!

Who is organizing this event?

This year’s Fest was organized by Austin Zine Friends, a 501(c)3 nonprofit run by a handful of folks who are passionate about creating space for zine creators and zine fans to come together. The main organizers this year were Chris, Erin, Jennifer, Laura, Michael, Michelle, and Ranna. Many zine-loving volunteers are also helping to run the show. Huge special thanks go out to Jude for handling all of our exhibitor promo on social media!

I still have questions. Who do I ask?

Just shoot an email to the organizers at lonestarzinefest@gmail.com and we’ll get back to you ASAP 🙂

– 2024 Exhibitor FAQ –

Do I have to sign up to participate, or can I just show up?

Good question! Exhibitors have been finalized for this year’s Fest. If you aren’t on the list above, you won’t have a table at this year’s Fest (please reach out if you think there’s been a mistake – it happens!) Follow us on Facebook or Instagram to see when applications open for the next Fest.

How much does it cost to participate in Lone Star Zine Fest?

This year table fees ranged from $20 to $350. The Fest is still free to attend.

How early can I start setting up? Relatedly, what time do I need to be set up and ready for the public? And how about take-down & clean up?

Exhibitors should have received an email with detailed information. Please consult those messages, and send us an email if you didn’t receive that info.

This year, we are hosting a Zine Fest Eve Fold-n-Staple Party on Friday, October 10th, from 6:30-8:30pm. Swing by and get help or lend a hand with last-minute Zine Fest tasks like folding, stapling, decorating the space, and hanging out with the other exhibitors before you get stuck behind your tables for the rest of the weekend. If you are tabling on Saturday, you may also drop off zines/merch/decor at your table on Friday evening, but leave the setup for Saturday morning – this is a PARTY!

When you arrive the morning you are tabling, you’ll check in with the organizers and double check your table assignment in case something has changed, then get to setting up. Your tables and chairs will be already set up and ready for you!

Please plan to stay for the entire event. We want attendees to have the best experience possible and that means lots of stuff to see/do/buy! Feel free to lend a hand with cleanup and/or head next door to The Brewtorium for an informal post-Fest hangout with the organizers!
